Meet the team

Candice Walker

Office Manager & PA

Avid foodie and West Midlands-gal Candice (or Candy, if you’re her pal) joined our Finance and Ops Team in autumn 2016, boasting a wealth of experience gained in an Operations role within Government. She also previously ran her own cleaning company and launderette, which is a very interesting career curve-ball on her route to joining the Silverbean team.

She studied English and Film Studies at University and as a result, has a bit of a penchant for 1920’s German expressionist films. She’s also a huge fan of documentaries and confesses to spending hours watching them on ‘anything and everything’ on Netflix. We’re sure she and documentary-nut Simon will get on very well!

Candy’s infectious energy, effervescent attitude and flair for all things ops have cemented her as the backbone of the Silverbean office. Her super-organisational skills are put to the test daily as she herds cats (or more specifically, us Beaners!) to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly. In fact, everything from Silverbean’s unique culture and unforgettable staff socials, to its focus on staff welfare and charitable deeds can be owed to ‘wor Candy. Never one to shy away from going above and beyond, it came as no surprise when Candice was also appointed as Neil Robbins’ Personal Assistant in spring 2018. With an innumerable list of responsibilities under her belt, it’s fair to say we’d be lost without her.

Whilst originally hailing from the Walsall, she also spent a couple of years living abroad in Gibraltar. God only knows why she came up to Newcastle after that – it surely couldn’t have been for the weather!

Candy loves cocktails, is learning to (randomly) play the ukelele and is chronically averse to exercise of any kind. When she’s not doing all of that, she usually spends her weekends playing geeky board games or skulking around comic book shops with the brats (her words, not ours!) and playing the train-station lottery. We’re not entirely sure what that is, either.

Did you know?

Candice is on a quest to read every winning and shortlisted novel from the Man Booker Prize list, from 1969 to the present day. That’s around 280 books to plough through!
